A few notes as we are less than 8 weeks from this year's ride:
- Registrations are over 115, but we currently have plenty of room before we reach our 250 maximum.
- Make sure you train as much as possible; if you can find hills on which to train, even better.
- This year's route will run the opposite direction from last year's. A route map and elevation chart will be on the website by the end of April.
- Alan Apel will be back this year to take photos of the ride. Participants will be able to order individual photos or a DVD of all ride photos.
- SAG help is always needed, and can be a great way for a non-riding spouse or family member to participate in the ride. Remember, SAG volunteers receive free registration and Sunday meals.
- To clarify information where some riders have had questions:
- The ride starts and ends at Washburn University in Topeka. Riders will be able to leave their vehicle at Washburn during the ride. The club van will transport luggage to Council Grove.
- Saturday and Sunday night accomodations for the ride will be at the Council Grove Middle School. We will have access to the gymnasium for sleeping, and the locker room for showers. Riders can also tent camp on school grounds, or stay at local hotel or motel, but must make their own reservations if they do not stay at the school.
- Accomodations for the Friday night before the ride are available in Topeka at a number of motels and hotels. Barbara Anne Debolt, a bicycle rider who works with three different motels in Topeka, will be happy to work with riders looking for a room. She can be reached at 785-271-8309 or at topekarisales@tharaldson.com.
